Unfortunately it occurs with ruby 1.8.7 (2010-01-10 patchlevel 249) [i386-mingw32] too.<br>

Please check the version of MySQL you're trying to connect Ruby to.</p>
<p>If is MySQL 5.1, then the segmentation fault is expected.</p>
<p>mysql gem has been binary compiled against MySQL 5.0:</p>
